Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday mourned the dying of veteran Telugu filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Ok Viswanath, who handed away this morning.
“Saddened by the passing away of Shri Ok Viswanath Garu. He was a stalwart of the cinema world, distinguishing himself as a artistic and multifaceted director. His movies coated numerous genres and enthralled audiences for many years. Condolences to his household and admirers. Om Shanti,” the prime minister Narendra Modi tweeted.

A prolific filmmaker, Ok Viswanath is credited with helming memorable movies like Sankarabharanam, Sagar Sangamam and Siri Siri Muvva (which he remade in Hindi as Sargam, introducing Jaya Prada) in addition to many Hindi movies like Eeshwar, Kaamchor, Sanjog and plenty of others.
