Thank God movie review: Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra film is dull and pointless

Swerving wildly to avoid wasting a motorcyclist who is available in his manner, Mumbai-based real-estate high-flier Ayaan Kapoor (Malhotra) crashes right into a automobile. The display goes clean. When he involves his senses, Ayaan finds himself in entrance of a person who introduces himself as CG aka Chitragupt (Devgn), and who seems to be lording over an unearthly area dotted with rows of silent witnesses.

The black-clad CG is judge-jury-executioner and chief inquisitor, all rolled in a single. And Ayaan is within the dock: what sort of human is he? The sort who lies and cheats and deserves to fry in hell until all eternity, or spend the remainder of his life together with his loving household, spouse (Singh) and younger daughter?

The official remake of Norwegian movie ‘Sorte Kugler’, ‘Thank God’ marks Indra Kumar’s return to Bollywood after a sizeable hole. Finest recognized for his musical rom coms with Bollywood stars appearing as overgrown delinquents (‘Dil’), and the raunchy ‘Masti’ and ‘Dhamaal’ franchises full of oversexed males and double-meaning dialogues, his fashion continues to be same-old, and it does nothing for a fantasy which wanted to be gentle on its ft.

The vanity born of a human suspended between life and loss of life, embracing reform and turning over a brand new leaf, is a well-recognized one. We’ve had variations of it each in Hollywood and Bollywood, however I’m laborious put to recollect one which is as uninteresting and pointless. Devgn delivers his trademark smirk, and waits for the compulsory ‘Singham’ reference, which exhibits up quickly sufficient as a result of the very svelte Singh is a cop by occupation. Malhotra leaves little impression. As ever, the fantastic Seema Pahwa and Kulbhushan Kharbanda are wasted. As is our time. Poor Ms Fatehi comes on to do a shake-and-jive, however sorry, no cleaning soap.

This was meant to be a cautionary story, laced with classes and laughter. The place’s the enjoyable? Even the Almighty can’t do a factor about it.

Thank God film solid: Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, Rakul Preet Singh, Seema Pahwa, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Nora Fatehi
Thank God film director: Indra Kumar
Thank God film ranking: One star
