The very first thing we observed was that the placards’ textual content seemed digitally added. So, we tried to search for the unique images.
We first reverse-searched the picture and located the identical collage on Fb shared on June 6, 2019. Nevertheless, the placards contained completely different textual content — pertaining to the kidnapping, gang rape, and homicide of an eight-year-old Muslim woman referred to as Asifa Bano by six Hindu males and a juvenile in January 2018 within the Rasana village close to Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir.
Subsequent searches led us to a information report from April 15, 2018, that contained images seen within the collage. Actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, Radhika Apte, Esha Gupta and others held placards that learn, “I’m Hindustan. I’m Ashamed. #Justiceforourchild 8-year-old gang-raped. Murdered. In ‘Devi’-sthan Temple. #Kathua.”
We additionally discovered two images from this collage on the Instagram profiles of actors Swara Bhaskar and Kalki Koechlin.
Therefore, we conclude that the viral collage was digitally manipulated. Bollywood actors and singers should not boycotting folks following Arjun Kapoor’s assertion.
