Movie Review | Bob Biswas: Intriguing But Perfunctorily Mounted – FilmyVoice
This movie focuses on the murderer Bob Biswas, a personality conceived by Sujoy Ghosh and Advaita Kala in 2012 launched Kahaani which featured Vidya Balan, thus technically making it a prequel to Kahaani.
Actor Saswata Chatterjee had portrayed the quirky character in Kahaani with such aptitude and unconventional fashion that it landed turning into an intriguing determine price exploring his backstory, and thus this movie germinated.
In contrast to the high-octane, nifty thriller Kahaani, Bob Biswas with a character-driven plot, is a slow-paced movie. The titular character in a weak frame of mind embarks on a journey of self-discovery after being in a coma for eight years. Unable to recall his previous, and whereas attempting to piece his life collectively together with his spouse Mary, son Benny and step-daughter Mini after he steps out of the hospital. How he will get his potential sufferer’s MMS on a cell phone and is pressured to kill them whereas working undercover as a life insurance coverage agent, varieties the crux of the movie.
Set in Kolkata, the script does have its moments, with the twists within the story and the code of conduct amongst criminals, however it’s Bob’s gullibility that retains you hooked to the display screen.
Whereas we miss Saswata Chatterjee because the eponymous killer, Abhishek Bachchan together with his bemused look and unwonted manner delivers an equally earnest efficiency. He’s aptly supported by Chitrangda Singh as his spouse Mary, Ronith Arora as Son Benny, and Samara Tijori as Mini.
Purab Kohli has his moments of onscreen glory because the drug peddler Bubai. Equally, Pabitra Rabha as Dhonu the street-food vendor, and Paran Bandopadhyay because the pharmacist Kali Da who retains saying: “Niyam, Niyam hota hai…” go away their mark on the display screen.
Tina Desai in a major function as Police Officer Indira Verma is stereotypical and so are all the opposite supporting actors who’re part of the town’s underbelly.
Whereas Bob Biswas’ again story is intriguing and the movie informs you of how he’s linked to the story in ‘Kahaani’, author Sujoy Ghosh takes the lazy approach out.
His script fails to inform us about Bob’s initiation into the world of crime, how he turned a contract killer within the first place. This is able to have been rather more fascinating. Additionally, Bob’s journey because the murderer is easy and perfunctory that past a degree, you simply don’t get emotionally hooked.
