Vidya Balan on working in Jalsa

Recalling some of the ‘painful’ scenes of the film Jalsa, Vidya Balan shared her expertise of appearing within the movie, particularly with a toddler who has been recognized with cerebral palsy —a dysfunction that impacts an individual’s mobility—in actual life as effectively. 

Vidya informed Pinkvilla: “In Jalsa, (I bear in mind) there was a really intense scene. One of many final scenes that I’ve with my (on-screen) son is with a boy who has cerebral palsy. And it was a brutal scene. He’s a boy with cerebral palsy. He’s not an actor per se.”

“In that brutal scene, I’m saying some very nasty factor to him…as a result of, one, as an individual (the actor model) and second as a mom (within the movie)….saying one thing to a toddler like this….it was very powerful for me. So after I noticed it (on display screen), they (the makers) had put plenty of it in music. As a result of the scene is brutal. It did one thing to me (from inside). So, I believe, this scene is ‘The’ one,” she stated.

Balan recalled crying after the primary take of the scene. She stated, “He (the kid within the movie) is the explanation why the scene works on display screen. Due to the way in which he reacted to all that I used to be saying….after the primary take (of the scene)…I ran again and I cried. I felt prefer it (the scene) was ‘actually’ taking place.”

For the unversed, Jalsa is a thriller movie directed by Suresh Triveni. It’s produced by T-Collection and Abundantia Leisure. The movie stars Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah in key roles. It premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 18 March 2022.
